Rescue Your Relationship
Couples Counseling
In-person in Westport, CT & online throughout Connecticut and Florida
Sometimes life gets in the way of ‘Happily Ever After’.
Couples Counseling can help bring Peace, Love, and Joy back to your home.
Relationships are hard. Married or not married, the blending of thoughts, communication styles, actions, hopes, and dreams of two people is hard enough, but then when you throw in bills to pay, work stress, children, in-laws, and sexual expectations, it can lead to feelings of tiredness, frustration, anger, even doubting the decision that you made to get into the relationship in the first place.
The goal of Couples Counseling is to help you learn the skills and develop the attitudes necessary to improve things in your relationship. We will dive deep into the things that are causing the fights, then find ways to attack them head on, with a blend of counseling and psychological styles and methods with which my clients are experiencing terrific results.
Couples counseling is not easy, but it is worth it. You deserve better than the constant frustration, arguments, and struggles in your relationship.
You. Deserve. Happiness.
Let’s determine what went wrong in your relationship, then find a way to move forward with peace and joy.
In every relationship, from the beginning stages of romance to the deep-rooted bonds of marriage, challenges inevitably arise. While some couples navigate these challenges seamlessly, others find themselves stuck in a cycle of conflict, misunderstanding, and emotional distance. For many, couples counseling and marriage counseling become invaluable tools to untangle these complications, foster mutual understanding, and rejuvenate the relationship.
The Need for Couples or Marriage Counseling
Why would a couple, seemingly in love, need relationship therapy? The reasons are vast and often complex:
Communication breakdowns lead to misunderstandings.
Infidelity or breaches of trust.
Financial stress and arguments.
Disagreements over parenting styles or family dynamics.
Intimacy and sexual concerns.
Personal traumas affecting the relationship.
Counseling serves as a neutral space where these issues can be unpacked, discussed, and resolved with the guidance of a trained professional counselor.
Let Me Help You Find Healing and Understanding in Your Relationship
During counseling, we will:
Assess the Need and Concerns: I will initially assess the relationship's dynamics, understand both partners' perspectives, and identify the primary areas of concern for each of you.
Set Realistic, Attainable, Time-Sensitive Goals: Once challenges are identified, we will work together to set goals. These might range from improving communication to rebuilding trust or reigniting intimacy.
Develop Skills: Counseling is not just about discussing problems; it’s about equipping you with the skills to address issues that arise in your relationship for now and into the future. This could involve learning active listening techniques, understanding how to compromise, or developing strategies to handle disagreements constructively.
Dive Deep: Particularly in marriage counseling, some sessions might focus on deep-seated issues, exploring individual histories, past traumas, or longstanding patterns of behavior that impact the relationship. I offer Intensive Couples Counseling sessions that last longer than the typical sessions, so that we can take the time necessary to really work on each of your concerns and develop a plan and the skills necessary to bring love and joy to your relationship again.
Evaluate and Plan for the Future: Over time, we will review progress, celebrate improvements, and recalibrate goals as needed.

Common questions about Couples Counseling
-
Absolutely not! In fact, it means that you are doing what so many other couples do: Seeking assistance in the areas that you struggle, so that you can get back to feeling the love and care that you should feel in a relationship.
-
While it is difficult to tell how long relationship counseling will last for you, I can tell you that much of it depends upon your willingness to work towards developing the habits and ways of communication that will improve your relationship. Most couples need weekly sessions initially, followed by less frequent sessions for awhile, and eventually infrequent check-ins to help process new concerns.
-
We can get you started as soon as this week with an initial consultation to determine fit, then sessions scheduled going forward.
